Claromentis Announces Release 5.1

Claromentis is pleased to announce the imminent availability release of 5.1. This interim release includes numerous enhancements and additional product functionality, including distributed people administration, improved portal searching and an exciting new Gallery Application for image management.
Distributed People Management
Included with this release, Claromentis administrators will have the ability to assign designated people administrators, commonly referred to as “power users”. These are users who are given permission to access the People Admin panel at a restricted level. Power users have the ability to create, edit, and/or delete user accounts within the predefined groups or roles that they are given.The business benefit is that the responsibility for maintaining user profiles can be pushed out to those people best placed to manage that task. For example regional office managers or administrators who work with the people concerned are much more likely to be able to efficiently manage users in their office than the head office staff.
Improved Portal Search
In this release of Claromentis, we have ported our proprietary search to leverage the open source Java based search engine, Lucene. Lucene will provide significant scalability and performance enhancements over the proprietary engine used in versions before 5.1. The Lucene port is now being significantly enhanced to provide context in search returns. The port is a good example of Claromentis leveraging open source components as they reach sufficient maturity, to deliver commercial software at a sensible price point and maintain core development speed.Gallery Application
The new Gallery is an image management application that is built-in to the Claromentis Document Manager Framework. There are four key components to the module:
- Automatic resolution conversion allowing a single high resolution image to be automatically re-sized to users on request
- Permission based albums
- Full lightbox capability allowing for the multiple download of images as a .zip file
- Metadata tagging of image data for better indexing and retrieval
